Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed a restful and enjoyable summer holiday. With such great weather, I’m sure many of you were able to make the most of it.
On Monday, all staff gathered for part of our annual training. This included welcoming new colleagues, revisiting our school’s core values and vision, celebrating this year’s excellent GCSE and A-level results, receiving safeguarding updates, and working on our new school improvement plan. This year, our focus continues to centre on two key areas: Belonging and Innovation. It was wonderful to see everyone together again, preparing for the year ahead at Sandringham.
Tuesday was an important day for our new students in Years 7 and 12. They spent time settling in, learning timetables, finding their way around the school, and getting to grips with everyday routines such as the canteen. The transition went smoothly, and by the afternoon the whole school was once again buzzing with energy.
This week has been busier than usual as we launched our new catering service with Culinera, a local company specialising in fresh, locally sourced food. We are excited about the new menus, and we are confident students will enjoy them. Naturally, there have been a few teething issues, particularly with the new till systems which have caused some longer queues. We expect these to ease quickly as everyone becomes familiar with the new setup. Many thanks to Ms Dennis, Mr Hamilton, and the wider team for working so hard with Culinera to ensure a smooth start.
Our summer examination results were outstanding once again, enabling students to move confidently on to their next steps, whether that is joining the sixth form, progressing to college, or embarking on university, apprenticeships, or gap years. We will publish full results on the school website shortly, once remarks are finalised. For now, here are the headline figures:
GCSE
A-level
We are also proud that eight students are beginning courses at Oxbridge this year, and that most of our Year 13 leavers secured their first-choice places at Russell Group universities. Congratulations to all students on their success, and a massive thank you to staff for their exceptional commitment throughout the year.
On Thursday, despite the weather, we successfully took our biennial whole school photograph. These photos, dating back to 2008, form a fascinating historical record of Sandringham. Interestingly, some of the students in the earliest photos are now members of staff, do you know who they are?
Next week marks our first full week of term, with main school assemblies and a return to our regular rhythm. We are also welcoming prospective parents into the school and look forward to sharing all that makes Sandringham such a special community.
Thank you for your continued support. I am confident this will be another happy, successful, and memorable year for everyone.

The LRC has a fantastic range of fiction and non-fiction books for students to borrow. Please take the book you wish to borrow to one of the library desks where a librarian will issue it to you. If students are not sure what to read or can’t find a specific book, our friendly librarians are always on hand to help.
Year 7 students will soon be receiving a library induction and will be shown how to search and reserve books via the Accessit Learning Resource Centre tab on MySandstorm.
Students are welcome to use the LRC at break and lunch for quiet reading.
Well done to Owen H, 7T, and Katie P, 7H, who were the first students to borrow books on Tuesday!

His books will be enjoyed by all, but are particularly suitable for students who might not ordinarily love reading!
King of Nothing, by Nathanael Lessore.
Anton and his friends are the kings of Year 9.
They're used to ruling the school and Anton wears the crown. The other kids run away when he's about but that's the way he wants it - he's got a reputation to live up to after all.
So when he gets into serious trouble at school, he doesn't really care, but his mum most definitely does. She decides it's time for Anton to make some new friends and join the Happy Campers, a local activity group. Anton would quite literally rather do anything else, especially when he finds out Matthew, the biggest loser in school, is also a member.
But after Matthew unexpectedly saves Anton's life, Anton figures maybe this kid is worth a shot. Teaching him some game is the least Anton can do to repay the debt.
As the boys strike up an unlikely friendship, Anton finds himself questioning everything he thought was important. Does he want ruling the school to be his crowning glory or should he set his sights on better things?

Following on the success of the smash-hit ‘Bugsy Malone’, Limitless Productions, returns to The SandPit Theatre this Halloween, with a brand newfull-scale musical.
One of the darkest musicals ever written,Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is the unsettling tale of a Victorian-era barber who returns home to London after fifteen years of exile to take revenge on the corrupt judge who ruined his life. When revenge eludes him, Sweeney swears vengeance on the entire human race. Perhaps composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim’s most perfect score,Sweeney Todd is lush, operatic, and full of soaring beauty, pitch-black comedy and stunning terror.
Featuring a sizeable cast, full scale set and immersion throughout, this classic musical thriller is not to be missed.
