This week's Sandprint has quite a festive feel again.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday our amazing kitchen staff from Chartwells served more than 1,400 Christmas dinners to all year groups in the school and many staff. The food was superb and as you will see from some of the pictures, students were able to sit and enjoy dinner together, pulling Christmas crackers, listening to Christmas songs, and occasionally singing along if they felt like it. This has now become a major event on our calendar, and it is so nice to see young people enjoying lunchtime together.
Other events include various House competitions. On Monday there was House Swimming, on Tuesday it was a turn of staff with a Staff Bake Off, on Wednesday there was House Rugby and then on Thursday it was Sixth Form House Quiz. Also, on Thursday we had Christmas Accessory Day where students joined in the festive fun dressing up with some Christmas accessories.
On Friday, we also announced the winners of our Christmas Card competition. Edith H in Year 12 and Christopher G in Year 9 were the worthy winners with their beautiful artwork. More on this under Visual Arts News, but well done to them and we look forward to sending a digital copy of this out soon.
The end of term is fast approaching. Next Monday after school there is KS4/5 boys' house swimming and, in the evening, we have the Year 14 reunion event. On Wednesday night there is the Carol Concert at Saint Paul’s Church and on Friday we have our Charity Day at the end of term as normal. It’s a lovely way to finish the term and I’m sure everyone will really enjoy the activities taking place.
Finally, you may have seen that the Sunday Times has published their annual Parent Power guide which lists the UK’s top 10 comprehensive state schools for 2025. Schools are ranked according to GCSE and A-level outcomes and Sandringham is ranked as one of the top ten non-selective schools in the UK (at number 8). We are incredibly proud that the work of everyone (students, families, governors and staff) has been recognised so highly at a National level. Well done everyone. You can read the article by following the link here.
Have a lovely weekend.

Ms L KellyThis morning, around 115 Year 10 students interviewed for Prefect roles. It was fantastic to see so many young people wanting to take up Leadership roles within the school. Mr D SmithThank you to everyone who supported Fo$S at the Christmas Fair last Saturday. The event was a great success and FO$S are pleased to announce they raised around £3,100 for the school. The Year 7 stalls did particularly well this year raising nearly £1,300. They could not have done this without all the help from our volunteers and everyone who came to the fair. So a big thank you.
If you weren’t able to make it on the day or didn’t have the chance to buy a raffle ticket, then there is still time. Tickets can be bought on ParentPay for £1 each. Each ticket purchased online will be allocated a paper ticket and added to the others sold. Tickets can be bought up until the draw, which will be made on Wednesday 18th December. UPCOMING EVENTS
A reminder that you can still buy tickets for our Carol Concert at St Pauls next Wednesday online here.
Here is what Alex S in Year 13 has to say: "We have busy rehearsing over the last few weeks for the Carol Service taking place on Wednesday 18th December. Lessons and Carols includes all of the traditional carols with various choirs singing along with the string orchestra. A combination of staff and students will also read lessons to allow a chance for reflection. As well as this, the ensembles will individually perform set pieces. This is always a really lovely festive event with the congregation joining in and getting in the mood for Christmas. This year we are excited to perform in a bigger venue and it is a nice chance for all of the musicians to be together in one place performing. Do come along for music, singing and perhaps a mince pie or two.
Miss A StothardAs mentioned last week, St Albans & District Foodbank Distribution Centres will be open on the days set out above during the festive period.

But as she's thrust into the spotlight, her home life and friendships start spiralling out of control, and it's time for Quiet Storm to show that she has something to say. A tender, empowering novel about family, friendship and finding confidence in who you are.
Imogen R in 7J has recently read the book and comments: “A very relatable book if you like sports, (running in particular,) or have trouble speaking up in class. Very intriguing and makes you want to read on after every chapter. Overall one of my favourite books I have read.”
